When you are working away from home, I find it very easy to forget about birthdays, anniversaries, events. After all, its like starting a new life away, with a new group of people, each with their own things on their mind. But it made me think about memories and making ones that will stay with you forever.

The conclusion is yet to come to me however, what I do know is right now, I am at a point where planning for the future home, job and achievements have been on my mind for so long, when I had an opportunity to make more memories in the here and now ... I nearly lost it.

Clearly the universe had other plans where I was given another chance to stay one more week away from my pre-Morocco reality and make some new stories. This time, I did not let it slip through my fingers.

As a small catch up on the last few days, I still have a persistent cough, but the lungs are good enough to run 10km again.

We had the opportunity to visit an IBM P-Tech School which is where kids aged from 10 to 18, from low socioeconomic backgrounds have an opportunity to go to a specialised school which aims to accelerate their development and give them opportunities they would not normally have.

The most consistent aspect from each student was that they each have such a passion to learn (which I have seen before) and to make a better life for themselves and especially their country (which I have not seen so strong in such young boys and girls).

I was so much in awe there is one conversation I will not forget.

Child aged 11 in broken english:

"Thank you for coming here and giving us your time and sharing your experience"

Me:

"Your time is no different to mine, so thank you for giving me your time too"

He walked away crying because he realised that there are people who have never met him, who believe in him to make a difference and most importantly (i hope) that his time is no different to the fancy consultant who visited him.

I make a lot of mistakes, with cultural differences, people and work but, one thing I have not forgotten yet ... time is valuable for everyone. Regardless of language and age, the two of us were able to understand each other perfectly.

Sometimes they just get in the way!
