A story about the Cold Chicken

Re-learning the value of actions over words (a little experience helps)

A story about the Cold Chicken: Event

Although the title is not the most eloquent, it did get your attention right!

Now there IS a story about a long journey involving five and a half languages, much confusion, a stubborn cat that wouldn't get off the seat (at the dinner table inside a restaurant) and two ice cold chickens, reach out and I will happily tell you.

What I will say, is that having now spent just over a week in Morocco, barriers have been let down, records broken, bonds strengthened and all because I keep trying to become better.

Now the word "better" is subjective. Depending on the situation it can mean funnier, smarter, more analytical, create a deeper impression or just learn more however, due to the type of person I am/was, it meant I took some risks that both paid off and blew up.

An example of them paying off was when we our client basically said,

"We are impressed how much you have learned and that you actually GET our issues ... We trust you!"

An example of them not paying off was when my colleague had to remind me of the cultural and age differences between my team and I, and that my behaviour can leave strong memories.

Now, in the grand scheme of things, my behaviour was pretty insignificant however, it reminded me of lessons I should not have forgotten, thus hurting me even more.

To quote Thomas Wayne ... "Why do we fall ... To get back up again"

Those risks .. AND the wisdom of of those willing to share has been (and will always be) extremely valuable to me (much appreciation to my legal colleague).

I am a better person because of these lessons and will continue to learn from my experiences.

Did I mention that I ran 10kms without stopping! Considering the furthest I had run prior to this was about 2km (without stopping), it was a pretty huge moment (thank you to my marathon running colleagues)

After the first week of this assignment, I just want to keep pushing the boundaries of my project (to serve the client better); ensure my team trusts me (looking out for them and heeding their wisdom) and; pushing though my limits (next stop, 10km in under 60min [did it in 1.03:00]).

Its late in Casa, so I will bid goodnight for now.

Gallery below shows some time on client site, attending a hackathon on a 747 and our trip to Fes, staying in a riad (heritage home), shopping in a medina (huge shopping area) and more during the first week!

Ciao
